Mark Martin FCA CTA

Managing Director

Mark co-founded Caldwell Penn in 1993, having spent his early career at Leach Bright (now BDO Stoy Hayward) and the London Stock Exchange Group Plc.

Specialising in tax, Mark has advised large multi-national companies, medium sized companies and start-ups on all aspects of tax and accounting. Mark also deals with the more complex personal tax returns and HMRC enquiries and also advises on the selection of the most appropriate legal structure for businesses.

Mark spends a good portion of his day in direct communication with clients helping with all aspects of their accounting and taxation needs.

Katie Halsall FCCA ACA

Director of Audit & Compliance

Katie joined Caldwell Penn in 2007 previously having worked at Taylor Cocks in Farnham. Katie was made a Director in January 2019 after successfully passing the ACA pathways examination.

Katie has experience of all aspects of audit and accounts with a focus on FCA regulated clients, clubs, group companies, solicitors and other specialist accounting areas. Katie is also in charge of training and was instrumental in achieving ACCA Platinum Employer and ACA Approved Employer status for the firm.

When she is not working, Katie spends her time with her husband and two daughters and also runs a Rainbow unit. In her spare time she enjoys socialising with friends and reading.

Lawrence Evans ACA

Director Of Business Development

Lawrence graduated in 2010 from the University of Reading with a degree in History. Lawrence joined Caldwell Penn in May 2012 since which time he has recently qualified as a Chartered Accountant and recently joined the board as Director of Business Development.

Lawrence works closely with clients to offer proactive business, accounting and taxation advice. This advice and experience assists clients to develop and grow their businesses to ensure the directors and shareholders achieve their goals and targets.

Cheryl Welch

Director of Operations

Cheryl joined Caldwell Penn in 2010, following a career break, having spent the first 17 years of her working life with Coutts Bank.

Responsible for the smooth running of Caldwell Penn, Cheryl manages all operational aspects of the firm.

Claire James ATT

Tax Manager

Claire is the longest standing member of the team having been with Caldwell Penn for longer than she cares to admit! She spent the early part of her career with BDO Stoy Hayward.

Specialising in personal tax, Claire manages the firm’s personal tax portfolio and has expertise in all areas of taxation.

Rebecca Moore

Payroll Manager & Company Secretarial Manager

With nearly 15 years’ experience of running payroll, Rebecca joined Caldwell Penn in 2013.

Rebecca manages the firm’s payroll and is responsible for ensuring all clients are prepared for the challenges of the introduction of Work Place Pensions / auto enrolment over the coming years. Rebecca also is in charge of the firm’s company secretarial duties including the filing of Annual Returns with Companies House and the maintenance of company registers.

Geoff Allen ACCA

Business Operations Manager

Geoff joined the firm in December 2014 to manage the internal finances and accounts of Caldwell Penn. Since joining, he has successfully completed all of the relevant exams and requirements to achieve his ACCA qualification.

Responsible for a mixture of Finance together with Operations & Facilities, Geoff is constantly working to improve functionality and efficiency within the business through various means including practice reporting. He is also the in-house IT liaison as a naturally suited role resulting from his experience with technology.

Jamie Snell ACA

Client Relationship Manager

Jamie joined Caldwell Penn in October 2015 having spent a number of years at a previous accountancy practice. During this period he gained experience in the bookkeeping, accounts and advisory services for small and medium sized businesses.

Since joining Caldwell Penn, he has been studying hard for his accountancy qualifications and became a qualified accountant in December 2019.

Jamie works closely with clients to offer proactive business, accounting and taxation advice. This advice and experience assists clients to develop and grow their businesses to ensure the directors and shareholders achieve their goals and targets. In addition to this role, Jamie also manages the audit team and works under Katie to ensure the smooth completion of the firm’s audit engagements.

Outside of work, Jamie enjoys watching sports and socialising with friends.

Karen Coult ACA

Year End Accounts Manager

Karen started at Caldwell Penn in March 2014 and has completed her ACA exams as part of the firms training program.

Karen is responsible for the preparation and filing of the annual financial statements for the firms clients.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys travelling, socialising and helping out with local gymnastics clubs.

Caitlyn Prew

VAT and Bookkeeping Manager

Caitlyn joined Caldwell Penn in February 2016 and currently works within the Accounts Team managing the preparation and filing of VAT returns, providing clients with bookkeeping training and ongoing bookkeeping support.

She is on the firm’s training programme and is currently working towards achieving the ACCA qualification.

Outside of work, Caitlyn enjoys going on holiday, eating out and socialising with friends.

Bradley Goddard

Tax Senior

Bradley joined the firm in September 2015 following the completion of his A levels. He has since completed the Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) and the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualifications and currently working towards the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification to further develop his tax knowledge.

He is a key member of the Tax Team and is responsible for the running of the firm’s corporation tax portfolio, ensuring client’s tax deadlines are met, preparing corporation tax returns and computations, as well as more detailed projects like ATED, R&D and Certificates of UK Residence. Bradley also provides support to the personal tax team during the busy tax season.

Luke Noble

Accounts Senior

Luke joined the firm in April 2015, is AAT qualified and is currently studying for the ACCA qualification.

Working in the firm’s audit and accounts team, Luke is responsible for the preparation and filing of the annual financial statements for the firm’s business clients, audits and the delivery of the firm’s management reporting services.

Kieran Buller

Accounts Senior

Kieran joined Caldwell Penn in December 2016 having graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Business Studies with Finance (BA(Hons)). He is on the firm’s training programme and currently studying towards the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification.

As a key member of the Accounts Team his main duties include preparing statutory accounts and undertaking audit work, as well as completing bookkeeping as required.

Outside of work he enjoys playing golf and socialising with friends.

Jamie Ungless

Accounts Semi-Senior

Jamie joined the firm in June 2015 following the completion of her ‘A’ levels. She is on the firm’s training programme, is AAT qualified and is working towards the ACA qualification.

Working in the firm’s Accounts Team, Jamie is responsible for onsite bookkeeping and preparation of year end accounts.

Outside of work, Jamie enjoys reading and socialising with friends.

Alice Anderson

Business Operations

Alice joined Caldwell Penn in March 2017 as an Office Administrator as part of the Business Operations Team. She has over 10 years of experience in Administrative Support in a range of industries, most recently working in new build housing.

Alice has a keen interest in accountancy and is currently studying ACCA. She hopes to gain experience in an accounts environment whilst providing assistance to other team members.

Scott Arnott

Payroll & Tax Semi-Senior

Scott joined Caldwell Penn in November 2017 after graduating from the University of Bournemouth with a degree in Accounting and Taxation. He works in the tax team with his main focus assisting the payroll and tax managers.

Outside of work he enjoys playing football and spending time with friends and family.

Millie Buckingham

Accounts Semi-Senior

Millie joined Caldwell Penn in July 2018 after working within the bookkeeping team of a small facilities management firm and completing the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting in her own time.

She is on the firm’s training programme and is currently working towards completing level 4 of the Association of Accounting Technician qualifications.

Millie is responsible for bookkeeping and preparing VAT Returns and providing monthly bookkeeping support for multiple clients.

Outside of work, Millie enjoys spending time at gym, walking her dog and socialising with friends and family.

Daniel Yuen

Accounts Semi-Senior

Dan joined the firm in January 2017. He is on the firm’s training programme and is busy working towards achieving level 4 of the Association of Accounting Technician qualifications.

Working in the firm’s Accounts team, Dan is responsible for accounts preparation, bookkeeping and the preparation and filing of VAT returns.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys boxing and attending music events with his friends.

Samuel Macco

Accounts Semi-Senior

Sam joined Caldwell Penn in August 2018 having graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree (BSc Hons) in Accounting and Finance.

He is on the firms training programme working towards achieving the ACCA qualifications.

Sam is responsible for preparing year end accounts and assisting with audits.

Outside of work, Sam plays 5 a side football during the week and enjoys socialising with friends and family at the weekend.
