Mark Martin co-founded Caldwell Penn in 1993 following his early career with Leach Bright (now part of BDO) and the London Stock Exchange Group Plc. Over more than 30 years, he has helped build the firm into a trusted adviser to growing businesses, entrepreneurial founders and complex group structures across the South East and beyond.
A Chartered Tax Adviser and FCA, Mark specialises in advising owner-managed businesses and their shareholders on the practical interaction between tax, commercial decision-making and long-term growth. His work spans corporate structuring, shareholder planning, business sales and acquisitions, R&D reliefs, valuations, remuneration planning and more complex HMRC matters.
Whilst tax remains his technical specialism, Mark is often valued most for his ability to connect wider advisory, finance and commercial considerations into clear, practical solutions. He works closely with clients throughout their business lifecycle, from early-stage growth through to exit and succession planning.
Mark also plays a central role in shaping the firm’s wider strategic direction, particularly around relationship-led growth, advisory services and the integration of finance function support across the Caldwell Penn Group.
Outside of work, Mark is a lifelong Chelsea supporter and can often be found at the Bridge. He also enjoys golf, networking and spending time with family and friends, with a particular interest in how businesses grow through trusted personal connections.
