Katie Halsall heads up the Audit and Assurance team at Caldwell Penn. She is a Responsible Individual (RI), the firm’s Audit Compliance Partner (ACP) and MLRO, and leads the audit function with a strong focus on technical quality, regulatory compliance and delivering a consistently high standard of client service.
With 24 years’ experience in audit and accounts, Katie has developed deep expertise in year-end accounts and built a strong technical background. She began her career with larger firms, including Pridie Brewster (now part of BDO) and Taylorcocks (now TC Group), before joining Caldwell Penn 19 years ago.
Katie oversees client engagements from planning through to completion, working closely with both clients and her team throughout the audit process. She is also a QPRT, supporting and mentoring apprentices as they progress through their training, and plays an active role in developing the next generation of professionals within the firm.
No two days are ever the same, and Katie values the balance between technical problem-solving and building strong client relationships. Whilst audits may only take place once a year, she is available to clients all year round, helping businesses navigate challenges with confidence and clarity. The team is also embracing digital audit technology to improve documentation, automation and collaboration.
Outside of work, Katie is a busy mum to two teenage daughters and volunteers her spare time running both Rainbow and Guide units, something she finds incredibly rewarding.
